Carrie specializes in Asset Forfeiture Defense. State and federal law permits the seizure of cash and other valuables on the grounds that the property is connected to illegal activity. This activity is generally illegal drug trafficking.
Carrie received her Juris Doctor from University of San Francisco School of Law and her Bachelor of Science in Political Science/International Relations from University of California at Santa Barbara. During law school Carrie was an Intern on the defense team for Bear Lincoln, a Native American accused of killing a Deputy Sheriff in Mendocino County. Early in her career Carrie saw the reward of fighting tirelessly for something you believe. After a six-month trial, Bear was ultimately acquitted.
Carrie has been defending the rights of individuals for two decades with Pier 5 Law Offices. Under the helm of legendary J. Tony Serra, Carrie defended and ultimately saw the acquittal of Steven Kubby, one of the first charged criminally under California’s then-new medical marijuana Compassionate Use Act. Carrie has represented individuals in an array of cases – from murder and illegal possession of narcotics, to computer hacking and cultivation of marijuana. She has represented high profile Marijuana Dispensaries and individuals caught in the web of the criminal justice system.
Since 2009 Carrie has focused her practice entirely in the area of Asset Forfeiture Defense. She has succeeded in recovering cash and other property with a combined value in the millions of dollars. Carrie uses her expertise in the field of asset forfeiture to defend her cases vigorously.
Carrie is a proud member of the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and California Attorneys for Criminal Justice.
